Okay, so these people are placing cones just because they're too lazy to make a few extra maneuvers to park. Clever strategy, sure, but a really inconsiderate one when you think about the rest of the neighbors. Sooner or later, someone was bound to notice.

It's a shared space, the spot is perfectly available, and as far as anyone can tell, they have no right to place those cones there. Yet the entire neighborhood continues to respect those cones without ever questioning whether they're there for a valid reason. I don't blame them, as I said, that's what most people do.

It's funny that this neighbor got so annoyed that he took the cones himself and stored them in his garage, but his frustration is actually quite understandable. I would have thought, “wow, they've been taking us for fools all this time”. They had been obediently following an imaginary rule.

Sometimes it takes one observant neighbor to challenge nonsense that everyone else quietly accepts. Apparently, he's the local hero this street didn't know it needed.

Drive the way everyone else does! We can't start placing cones in random spots just because it's easier to back out of your driveway.
